Well, we all start somewhere and nowhere is that more true than with me, your videographer. I am constantly learning new things and always feel like I am improving. Being a Utah Wedding Videographer means that I am attempting to evolve in a pretty saturated market. In the 5 years I have been on this videography journey I can’t even begin to cover all that I have learned….
Layne and Mckinlee were not expecting to have a videographer at their engagement session. Myrissa, with Sunkissed Photography invited me to join in on a little get together with some other photographers in the area. She asked the couple if they were okay with having a videographer there. They were! Being a Central Utah Wedding Videographer means that I not only need to get my name out there with couples but I also need to be known by the photographers in the area.
Mckinlee and Layne were troopers. It was freezing cold outside in the middle of January but they were awesome. I on the hand was, was bundled up under 3 layers. I also got some good stabilizer practice on this shoot. I got some really great shots and practiced different techniques. Myrissa had obtained permission for all of us to use the Palisade Golf Course. I’ve been to Palisade lake a few times before in the summer months but I had never been to the golf course. It was beautiful and I would love to go back when the snow melts and the grass greens up.
I would say that the best part of our session was how perfect all the sun flares were happening. There is a part in the video where the sun flare happens right in time with the music. Can you spot it? Comment below and tell me where you think it is. It’s pretty obvious, at least to me.
The other photographers I shot with were Morgan with Sunkissed by Morgan, Riley with Oh My Memories, and Alexis with Best Day Ever Photography! I’d love to get to know these ladies better and participate in more shoots with them. We had a great time. I love their photography. I am slowly getting my feet wet with photography but I always want to be known as a videographer first.
I love being a Utah Wedding Videographer because at least once a year I get to film at the Salt Lake Temple which is where I was married. It often brings me back to that moment of being a bride and makes it all just feel so close to home. I filmed Mark and Kelsey’s big day last May. Her mom really wanted a videographer to capture her daughter’s wedding and she found me! I loved the colors Kelsey picked out and I think everything flowed naturally from temple to reception. Their reception was at The Lodge at Traverse Mountain….
What goes on in the back end of Wallingford Films? Well, the first thing to know is that being a Utah Wedding Videographer means that I live in close proximity to multiple different landscapes. I also happen to live smack dab in the middle of the state so I can drive 3 hours is any direction and hit the Utah border of another state. It makes it super convenient so that is why I offer my services statewide….
I love fashion and wish I could pull off all these stylish outfits and accessories. Sometimes I feel like I need a fashion intervention. I don’t wear anything ugly, but my typical is a jeans, t-shirt, and tennis shoes. I wished that I would have been wearing cute clothes when were shooting together because at the end she pulled out her Polaroid camera and took a picture of us. I felt cool. I was so excited to edit this video for her that I think I did that the same day.
Learning to market my business is so much more involved than I thought it would me. Being a Utah Wedding Videographer means I need to make a concerted effort in this saturated wedding market. Not only do I have to be blogging often, I also need to be posting on Instagram frequently. Instagram is the top of today’s conversation. Let me explain the frustrations I have with this app…..
