I met Kacey and Ty because I had asked on Instagram if there was anyone available that weekend for a video mini session. Kacey and Ty aren’t married or even engaged but they must consider each other pretty special if they’ll film a video together. I told them that because I am trying to be known as a Central Utah Videographer I am trying to do more videos of people in our area. They were such a fun couple to work with. Kacey goes to Snow College and Ty is a senior in high school. He is also a baseball player.
It was the first weekend of January and we decided that it would be fun to do something involving snow. Kacey and I texted each other a few different locations and most involved pretty fields I was worried we wouldn’t be able to get permission to use. We decided to film in the Black Hill area of East Ephraim. I know the area well because during the summer we used to come here so I could ride an “easy” mountain bike trail. This is also the area Stephen first took me shooting.
Kacey and Ty were telling me how they are awkward on camera and even more awkward with posing. I told them not to worry about a thing. I reassured them that everyone, even me, feels put on the spot and awkward in front of the camera. Thankfully though, it doesn’t show through the camera unless you make a real effort. I’m talking about intentionally being awkward. That shows and it sticks out. If you are yourself in front of the camera and not trying to be awkward you won’t even be able to tell.
This was my first video of 2019. Even though the music really has nothing to do with it I really thought the tone, beat, and other music elements really fit well with what I was trying to achieve. I searched the internet for a song I could use that was free, royalty-free, and not generic. It took me just over 2 hours to find this song.
I sure hope they hire me for their wedding one day!
